This extreme heat is getting to me...
I am normally a big fan of summer-time temperatures, but there's a reason I don't live in Dallas, Texas. Go outside in the afternoon... That's why. July 2012 in Des Moines has averaged a high temperature around 95.5F. Our normal high in central Iowa is supposedly the mid 80s, but lately our temperatures have been on a central Texas kick and there's no end in sight. This is making it harder for sportsmen to enjoy the summer staples of fishing, camping and boating. So I had to escape.
Last Friday, I took a half day off work to go down to my hunting holes
and reconnect with the woods. Thinking of crisp Autumn mornings and deer hunting seemed to help with the
heat -- although walking the trails wasn't as much fun as I'd hoped. I
was pleasantly surprised to find my trail cameras loaded with deer
pictures. Here are a few that I liked. Most of them are baby pics, but
hey, who doesn't like baby pictures?
I hope you enjoyed the pictures and stay cool out there! Bow season opens exactly 77 days from today! -Chris
